Research shows that kids who begin drinking before the age of 15 are five times more likely to develop a dependence on alcohol as adults (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism). The average age that youth report using alcohol for the first time is 13 years old in Kalamazoo County (2012 Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth Survey).
